COLLISION IN THE CLOUDS by Anne Grimshaw

Following a visit to France, Anne Grimshaw returned home with a pair of flying goggles and the name of a French village where they had been found by a local farmer in 1945 during the Second World War.

Why were the goggles there?

Who had they belonged to? What had happened?

A mid-air collision of two American bombers from their airfield at Mendlesham, Suffolk, en route to German targets resulted in 17 crew members killed along with three civilians and several houses destroyed in the village.

But there was one survivor. Who was he? What did he do?

What happened to the goggles next?
